FALL 2008

Nineteen coaches met at the Best Holiday Travel RV Park in Chattanooga, TN on Thursday Oct 30.  We kicked off the weekend with Happy Hour at 4 PM with so much finger food, our hosts, who had prepared dinner, were a little concerned.  Knowing how this group likes to eat, there was nothing to worry about.  At 6 PM we dined on terrific home made soups, chili, minestrone, vegetable, chicken noodle and clam chowder.  All were great and there was not a lot left over.  Following dinner, we had what has become our traditional game of Pass the Trash.  Hollis Glover was the last man standing.

Friday morning started off with a continental breakfast.  This was Red Hat & ROMEO day.  The ladies, in their finest red & purple garb had a delightful lunch at "Epicurean".  Diane Kemp, our first queen, who became an SOB and lost her crown, was there.  Or new queen Judy Heiges aka "Queen Tinkerbell," dubbed Diane "ole Queen Mum".  Diane livened things up a bit with a fun quiz about red hatter activities. Our ROMEOs, as usual found a Hooters for lunch.  Imagine that! Our evening activity was once again "Pass the Trash" and the winner was George Carrell.

Saturday - following the continental breakfast, we had our business meeting.  We welcomed 3 visiting couples, Don & Sandy Snelling, Bob "Parky" Parkinson, both couples from Canada, and Bill & Brenda Schwalm from Kentucky.

It was decided that because not many are coming for breakfast and to ease the burden of early morning get ups for our host couples, breakfast will only be served on the morning of our business meeting.

Our new officers for 2009 are:

President - Herb Trotter
Vice President - Hollis Glover

Check the Bounder Beacon for more details as the dates get closer.

Several of our members that we know of with health problems are Schecks, Williams, Pettys, Edwards, Georges and Bounder Buddies, Steeles.  Keep them in your prayers and let us know of any others we missed.

The afternoon was a free time to take in the sights around Chattanooga, such as Look Out Mountain, Ruby Falls, The Aquarium, & Chickamauga Nat'l Military Park.  The weather was beautiful for sight seeing or to just sit and visit.

Saturday evening pot luck once again was a tribute to our great cooks who provided an excellent selection of dishes.  The hosts provided fried chicken and ham.  In our 50/50 drawing, actually 60/20/20, winners were Danny Boozer, Dave Caron, & George Carrell.

Bruce Ware presented the Bonehead award.  He told of several members faux pas and the winner was Don Dixon for his scenic route to the interstate (2 parking lots and a grassy strip.) Be sure and check the BOA website for those who have won the Bonehead award and how they earned it.

The silent auction had lots of lively bidding on the many items donated .  It was decided to split the proceeds from the auction 3 ways.  Winners were Ann Carneal, Jerri Hester and Janie Ware.  Our members also donated a good amount of can goods to a charity through Camping World for local families.

We closed the evening with another round of  "Pass the Trash" and Diane Kemp left with a pocket full of nickels.

We said our good byes over coffee on Sunday morning and went our separate ways.

Many Thanks to our hosts the Trotters & Dixons
